Who doesn't love a surprise?

I love surprises. Well, actually, only the ones I'm not expecting. I cannot STAND to wait for something... ask my Mom or John... they'll tell you! I will pester you to death if you give me a hint that a surprise might be coming. But the ones that just come, with no forewarning... ahhhhh I love those. :)

I got two great surprises in the past 24 hours...

First, I'll tell you about Mr. FedEx bringing this cute little box this morning. I wasn't expecting anything, nor was John. Well, imagine my excitement when I saw it was for ME and it was from one of my clients!! She sent me the MOST DELICIOUS looking cake you've EVER seen in your life from an awesome bakery in Tyler, Texas (www.janiescakes.com). The box it was wrapped in was the most darling thing ever and I can't wait to taste the cake! My client was SO kind to send me this thank you. I took pictures at their family reunion last week... a group shot with FIFTY people in it (EEK!)! My largest ever! Aw, my clients rock!

And the other lovely surprise came last night... the most GORGEOUS sunset!! After dinner I noticed the backyard was glowing, so I grabbed my camera and Roxie and I went out to the field to watch the sun go down. Um, WOW! What a spectacular light show! It was incredible and kept changing every few minutes, from a crazily unrealistic blue to bright orange to deep gold... thanks God! That was super cool.

When's the last time YOU surprised someone with something??? Hint hint! Go out and make someone's day today! ;)

Morning Dog.

My dog Roxie is a morning dog. And this poses a slight problem because I am not a morning person. At least not until after two cups of coffee, then I hit the ground running. But I'm talking early morning... you know, the one while I'm still asleep.
Until.
Until a little, cold, slippery nose comes peering over the mattress, into my puffy face, probing and hoping. And funny thing is, it stays there until it feels some movement.
*Yawn*
Okay, okay. I'm up. I'm up.
I swing my reluctant feet over the edge and try to find the floor, all the while trying NOT to look at the clock (why make matters worse?), and yet, as grumpy as I truly want to be, I find I can not. Why? Because the most gorgeous little pup is looking at me with those big twinkling happy eyes and boy is she excited that I am FINALLY awake to keep her company. And so, I too am happy.
Roxie wins again.
But now, after watching me drink several cups of coffee and then run around doing chores and feeding children and swapping laundry loads and filling bird feeders and washing dishes, Roxie has decided that she made a grave mistake by waking up so early this morning, so she is catching a nap. Not fair. I want a one too!
And so it goes. Each day. I'm sure I can expect my faithful furry alarm clock to wake me up once again tomorrow, bright and early, but you know what? It's okay by me. :)

Peer pressure.

Hey. Come on........ everyone is doing it. It's cool. It's free. Be careful though, you might get hooked!
Yes, I'm talking about blogging... and thought I'd go ahead and dive in head first. No sticking a toe in to test the water for me. Just do it.
I've tried to avoid the Blog World because well, my to-do list everyday is already quite long and now I'm going to feel the added pressure of thinking of something fun and sassy and cool to say on my blog each day or week. Humph. Well, I suppose it's worth a shot.
What shall my first blog be about? How about the Dog Days of Summer.
It's hot here. Really hot. I wish I was back in Florida! We went there last month and it was fabulous. So let's see if I can figure out how to upload a photo... if so then I'm going to congratulate myself with a nice cold glass of wine. :)
